Meet the Team

Kelly Finn, Ph.D.

Founder & CEO

Kelly was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She earned a Ph. D. Teaching & Learning, M.S. Mathematics, and K-12 Teaching License from The University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. Kelly earned a B.S. Business Administration in 1996 from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

“FinnPREP began when a student asked me to prepare her for the ACT test. After the first prep session, I realized I was effective at teaching and motivating her to a score increase. My passion to help others led me to create the FinnPREP Method. Using the strategies and discipline that were successful for me in college, I designed a curriculum which is engaging and effective for teenagers.”

Rita Marie Cabello,  Instructional Coach  Rita was born the daughter of an educator and a factory worker and was raised in Swisher, Iowa. She studied Spanish at the University of Iowa, and graduated from Coe College with a degree in education. For three years, she taught high school English and became fluent in Spanish while living in Mexico. Family is the most important part of her life, so she returned to Iowa to be near her two sons and raise her two nephews.

Currently Rita is an adjunct instructor at Kirkwood Community College teaching English as a Second Language. When she’s not busy watching her nephew play football, basketball, and baseball, she’s working to finish her Master’s thesis in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at the University of Northern Iowa.
